Motion Detectors
We at Northwest do not use our motion detectors as a primary detection device, we consider them a second tier device, or back up detection. Most of our homes will utilize only one or two motion devices in very key areas. The reason for this is two fold. First, we want our security systems to protect families, not just the jewels. Systems that rely on motion detection as a primary device, are seldom used when the family is home, and even then it is severely handicapped. Secondly, an abundance of motion detectors inevitably leads to false alarms. A motion detector works on some pretty complicated physics, if they are not installed perfectly they are prone to false activation. There are many things in and around the home that can give off many of the same heat or motion triggers that trip a motion sensor. Our technicians know how to recognize these potential problem areas, and install our systems right the first time. We also only use the very best motion sensors on the market, the Bravo series from DSC. These sensors have numerous false alarm features built right into the circuitry. And if you have pets, that's not a problem either, the Bravo's are available with great pet-immunity options.
